Professional Coaching
Michael McCormack is a professional coach to endurance athletes in the sports of triathlon, cycling, and running. Michael works with athletes throughout the country and over the world via detailed internet programs, and locally in the San Francisco Bay Area where he enjoys an enthusiastic following.

A two-time Ironman Canada winner, Michael cycled with top professional cyclists in Spain, trained for 10 years at an Olympic training center, became a student of the science of coaching, and over the years developed a reputation for creative approaches to training. Contact Michael

His innovative, forward thinking training principles and their application to endurance training has been chronicled in numerous articles and validated time and again by athletes whose abilities range from professional Ironman winners to relative novices. Read more...

Performance Training for Everyday People
Michael's program stands as decidedly unique in that it is ambitious in its performance goals, yet realistic in recognizing that the majority of the population does not have 20-30 hours per week for training.

Quality versus Quantity, Variety in Training, and Efficiency in Training are the operating principles that enable athletes to aspire to more than simply covering the race distance, but to instead challenge their personal limits, yet with training hours that recognize life realities such as jobs and family.

While Michael's carefully defined training principles have remained constant over the years, the form in which they are applied continues to evolve both to reflect knowledge gained as well as to breathe fresh life into his training programs.

Performance Training Tools
M2 derives satisfaction from providing a detailed and comprehensive training program that produces results. For this reason, all of the M2 cyclists and triathletes use indoor training devices for the bike, the majority of which are computrainers.

A cycling program which does not specifically reference fundamental variables like cadence, pedaling efficiency, scientific heart rate training zones versus fabricated calculations, is at best a hollow shell of a program. The vagaries of road conditions, weather, terrain, darkness, time available for training, etc. make outdoor training much less predictable in terms of executing the type of precise training that produces maximal results.

M2 athletes will generally ride indoors 2-3 sessions of about 1 hour duation per week, and use the weekends to train on the roads. Please refer to the Testimonials as to the results that this program produces.

How to become an M2 Grasshopper in Training?

Looked to as an authority on studied training methods, many of Michael's athletes refer to him affectionately as the Master, and to themselves as Grasshoppers. Athletes that are interested in participating in one of Michael's training programs should follow the signup instructions and Michael will then contact you to discuss details.
