Gina Kehr battled a talented field, a challenging course, and horrific weather conditions to place 2nd overall at IMUSA. IMUSA features a two-lap bike course which finishes with a 10 mile gradual climb into what were ferocious headwinds. Gina appears to be the only competitor to have raced the 2nd lap as fast as the first, which is again interesting given M2's belief in strength and threshold training as opposed to the bland amorphous high mileage approach that deadens so many legs out there. 1st out of the water, 4th off of the bike, and 2nd across the finish line, a scant 3 minutes back of 13-time Ironman winner Heather Fuhr, who ran an amazing 3hr'04' marathon on flooded roadways. While Gina was gunning for her first win at IM, to finish so close to a top performance by a champion like Heather is indeed very impressive. 3rd Place overall was this year's IM New Zealand champion, Joanna Lawn.
